Spring Chart

Yom Kippur

I tried a computer fast for Yom Kippur.
To be fully alive you need to be present, not in an electronic copy of existence.
Observing with each sense the here and now, savouring the gift of life.
I think it is good to check that our machines are not mastering us but are still servants.
Yesterday felt more peaceful, less harried. I actually made more of life happen rather than just watching what someone else had done.

To help observe life, I'm posting an observation chart of the southern hemisphere seasons once I've made it and learnt how to attach files to blog posts..

(So far,  everything I come across seasonally is Northern hemisphere based. However, I will try and link to those Northern season charts, for the people who live in the upper part of the crust :-))

Art Alive. this blog is all about being alive fully, in every sense.
It's a creative challenge - to write, make art everyday. I'll post some of what I do and I hope it inspires you to give it a go.
It's Spring in my hemisphere so that has been the focus of my thoughts.
I've been using poetry to inspire me: here's a couple of poems for starters:

in Just -
by e.e. cummings

IN Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame baloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful
....

there's more of that poem at

Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/nothing-gold-can-stay/

Spring to me is all about hope so, although I have loved this poem for years, I have art journalled my response to this poem. I will post the beginnings of the page.

If you need a prompt for what you do - use the season you're in and perhaps a poem, and let me know what you've done.

I Don't Need an Alarm Clock

House
bones rattling
knees knocking.
Once again reminded of the quick
exit
to eternity
of mortality.
I don't need an alarm
Already clocked 1000 shakes.
Awake.
I don't need an alarm
I'm already (all ready: emergency kit, will in place, salvation tick)
awake.

New Spiritual Year

Happy New Year!

Yes, a new year - spiritually anyway or else I'm really early on my New Year's re"soul "utions.
Happy Rosh Hashanah and welcome to a place of fresh beginnings and the sharing of life's dramas - because we all know that's what makes the story of our lives interesting - the crisis points.
I'll get to those at some point.
Exploring where I've never gone before is my life's motto and this is an adventure into cyberspace and it's an unknown realm. This enterprising vessel is launching out.
I may yet be writing to myself, but, I feel that may not be a bad thing.
Bear with me if you've somehow stumbled across this page - any help appreciated.
I won't bore you with details who I am. Posts will give you a gist of that at some point.
