Loving this new word. My new art goal for the year. Capturing the essence of a place by combining different sketches into a fictitious picture. A form of extreme artistic license I guess. The kind of art that is created by your response to a place. I personally think most of our memories of places are "capriccious" seeing as memory is so subjective. This is the kind of art I love. It takes skill to create a fantasy painting that carries an emotional connection to a place. I'm not sure I can get there yet but at least I know what I want.

I am now very spoilt for choice in artwork/journalling ideas. The range of scenery I have experienced over the holidays is vast and the decision is what to paint and how? I think this is where quick sketches in an art journal will really help with final decisions and developing a few ideas.
Having just been away, what did I learn? To "Travel light".
I took both these bags away and the smaller one won hands down for accessability. I'm finding this very portable bag is the workable solution to sneaking in sketch time in this rather rushed stage of life.
Contents as per photo below:
The art journal is A6 size and my only change would be finding thicker paper.
This travel kit plus my camera were all I actually used.
